(Shove+Zas!+Fork Boys+…) Frammenti was born in Turin in 1991 and, over 15 years of intense touring throughout Europe, released five albums. In the 1990s, they became a cornerstone of Italian hardcore punk and a key figure in the underground scene. With poetic lyrics in Italian and an eclectic sound that blends wave, hardcore, and the progressive pop of Area and Stormy Six, they anticipated trends like emo and Italian post-hardcore, selling over 10,000 vinyl records. Their libertarian and situationist attitude led them to immerse themselves in Europe’s antagonistic realities, forging a network of collaborations and performing on over 500 stages. Frammenti return with “Merce,” a raw and visceral manifesto that explores the contradictions of existence with the rage of those who refuse to give up. There’s an urgent need for liberation from conditioning, from the commodification of life, from the anesthetized desires of a society that pushes us to consume rather than feel. The album is a countercurrent journey between denunciation and awareness, between personal experiences and collective reflections, and the clarity of those who choose not to look the other way. The story focuses on the least fortunate, on those who struggle to survive while the world looks the other way, on social poverty that becomes individual defeat, on silent complicity with a system that protects only itself and its own goods. The search for something authentic emerges as a necessity, first and foremost, personal. Fragility transforms into courage, vulnerability becomes the key to redemption. The urgency of going back to the source and breaking free from superstructures. “Life should be an ascent to internal and collective revolution, not a path of conformity, devaluation, and misery.” The album ends with a tribute to our roots, a tribute to those who have marked our path, almost as if to remind us that, despite everything, what has brought us this far continues to light up the night.
