(Izomerosztakpogo) By now, I hope Lotti Bigotti needs no introduction. I could say that this is yet another band fronted by Veréb Rómeó after Padkarosda and Sül (while the other members might be familiar from Kábelek and Koprolit), but that wouldn’t really do this record justice. Every single member leaves a distinct mark on these songs. The drumming, the constantly rumbling bass, the killer synth parts—everything has its place.

What really pushed me to release this record wasn’t just the fact that it’s damn good. It’s how incredibly cohesive it is. It contains everything I love. The furious punk energy, the aggression, the drive. The alternating female and male vocals make all of that hit even harder. It delivers something that a lot of straightforward post-punk or deathrock bands often can’t: genuine anger and intensity. And believe me, there’s no shortage of that here. The more melancholic moments remind me of old Hungarian punk, back when nothing—absolutely nothing—felt okay. Those parts can completely carry you away… and then you’re slammed right back into reality by the very Hungarian bleakness that runs through the lyrics. The female and male voices take turns hammering those words straight into your head. Because of the lyrics and the melancholy, a certain feeling hangs over the entire album—a feeling that’s closer to a constant sense of doom and pessimism. By the final tracks, it settles deep inside your mind. At least it did in mine. That’s one of the reasons I felt this wasn’t just another record. I hope that when you listen to it, you’ll catch the same feeling I did: something that sounds like a soundtrack to the sick soul of Hungary itself. (Izomerosztakpogo)
