Lyrics sang in both French and English drift between holding a rough melody with snarky sharp yells, while the chorus drenched guitar wails away providing to the sharp attack delivered. The rhythm section holds it all down while relentlessly going between brisk hard-driven parts and snappy pogo beats, with the sum of all these parts leading to a sneakily catchy but intense outcome. It’s hard to put an absolute finger on what DNA makes up Placid, but I can’t help but think of it as the bastard combination between the full on chorus attack of Neon Christ, the frantic bouncing urgency of The Comes, and a little touch of melody from the French legends Camera Silens.
