(Puke N Vomit+Stupido) There is more than a little self-irony when Woude sings “old farts never die, they just turn into punks” in Vanhat pierut (Old Farts). The lead singer – after whom the band was named – Woude was far from the archetypal angry punk with his long hair and sunny smile, and their lyrics, now in Finnish, were more about relationships than rebellion. Helsinki-based Woude became a kind of spokesband for their early 80’s generation. Maybe a bit softer and more romantic than many of their contemporaries, but still thoroughly cutting edge.
