Helge was involved with the Ox for the first ten years or so, followed by a long period at Plastic Bomb, and since 2016 he has been back at the Ox, devoting himself here to his subject, for which he coined the term “Network of Friends”: The informal circle of people from the European hardcore punk scene of the Eighties who are still loyal to their music, ideas and ideals today. Helge has documented this scene several times, for example with the “Network Of Friends” compilations, the first of which appeared in the late nineties. And then in 2011 with a book of the same title, in which, among others, Anton from UPRIGHT CITIZENS, Archi from INFERNO, Armin from SKEEZICKS (and X-Mist), Jörg (BLUTTAT), Micha (Plastic Bomb), Marco (NEGAZIONE), Flo (SQUANDERED MESSAGE, Heart First) and many other contemporary witnesses answered a long catalogue of questions about their lives then and now. The book was published in cooperation with Salon Alter Hammer from Duisburg, but was soon sold out. Now Helge has self-published an expanded, revised new edition, with layout help from Henning Prochnow and an expanded, illustrated discography. The new edition of this book is even more of a basic work for the scene from which Ox emerged and to which it, like many of the authors, feels it belongs.
